New Jersey is a backyard state, and that is exactly what this service needs. The chef pulls up about half an hour before dinner, sets a portable hibachi grill on the patio or the driveway, and cooks fried rice, vegetables and two or three proteins per guest in front of everyone — onion volcano, shrimp toss and all.
We cover New Jersey with chefs based in the state rather than sending one across the water from Long Island, so a Bergen County or Shore booking is a local drive and the travel line on your quote reflects that.

Most New Jersey bookings are backyard hibachi. The townhouse and condo decks in Hoboken, Jersey City and Weehawken run smaller groups; the Bergen County and Morris County yards handle 20 and up at long tables. Shore houses in Spring Lake, Manasquan and Long Beach Island are their own summer category.
Indoor hibachi is the one thing we cannot do — a teppanyaki griddle at full heat produces more smoke than a kitchen extractor can take. A garage with the door open or a canopy over the grill is the usual answer when the weather turns.

Yes, and they are among our busiest New Jersey towns. The constraint in a dense neighbourhood is outdoor space — a deck, a roof terrace, a shared yard or a driveway. If the only option is indoors, we cannot do it; the griddle makes far too much smoke.

Travel is measured from our nearest chef base. Within 10 miles there is no travel fee at all. From 10 to 30 miles it is a flat $30. Beyond 30 miles it is $1 per mile on the total — 31 miles is $31 and 45 miles is $45. The exact figure is calculated from your address and shown on your quote before you book.
